Adelaide inherited the county of Vermandois and Valois from her father, Herbert IV. She married Hughes le Grand, second son of Henry I, king of France. He went on the crusade to the Holy Land and died at Tarsus from wound received in battle. The had a daughter named Elizabeth or Isabel, who married the first Robert de Bellomont.
