Agustín Durán y Chaves is first mentioned when he accompanied Don Fernando (his father) in escorting Governor Guzmán from Mexico City to Santa Fe. For reasons unknown he went to Parral in 1665 and never returned. A later Fernando, of Taos, seems to have been his son.
