• Background Information. 753 John, Count of Eu, feudal Lord of hastings, son and heir of Herny and Margaret, took the side of his uncle, King Stephen. He married Alice, daughter of William d'Aubigny and Adeliza, the Queen Dowager of England. With the consent of his wife, he became a monk and died in 1170. He was buried in Foucarmont Abbey.
