Here is what I have on the two lines of Stafford that you mention, both descended from Hervey de Bagot:

HERVEY de STAFFORD (2), M in or before 1214 Pernel, d. of William de Ferrers, 3rd Earl of Derby, & his wife Sibyl, d. of William de Braose (See FERRERS). On 4 Nov. 1217 he was to have his lands, as having come into the King's faith & service. Summoned to join the King at Montgomery, 3 Sept. 1228. In Sept. 1230 he was in the King's service overseas. In July 1234 he was appointed with others to conduct David, son of Llewellyn of Wales, to the King. Died before 12 May 1237. Bur. at Stone. He had issue: [CP XII:1, p 171]

On 24 Oct. 1241 he had done homage for his brother's lands. On 14 March 1257/8 & 1 Aug. 1260 he was summoned to serve in Wales; & on 27 March 1260 to attend in London. Died before 4 June 1261. NICHOLAS de STAFFORD (2), M -- , d. of Geoffrey de Langley. In 1272 he had not yet been knighted, but was in possession of his lands. He served repeatedly in Wales from 1277 to 1287. In 1279 he was sued by his brother Edmund. Died c. 1 Aug. 1287 at the siege of Droslan Castle, Wales. Bur. at Stone. He had issue: [CP XII:1, p 172]

EDMUND, 1st BARON STAFFORD (2)., Born 15 July 1273. M before 1298 Margaret (She M 2nd Sir Thomas de Pype, Kt., of Pype & Died 17 March 1336/7. Bur. at Tysoe, Warw.), d. of Ralph, 1st Baron Basset, of Drayton, & his wife Hawise (See BASSET). On 20 Aug. 1294 he had done homage & was to have his lands. On 4 July 1297 he was about to go abroad with the King. Summoned to serve against the Scots, 1298, 1299, 1301, 1302 & 1308. Summoned to Parliament as a Baron from 6 Feb. 1298/9 to 26 Aug. 1307. He joined in the Barons letter to the Pope, 1300. He attended the coronation of Edward II, 18 Jan. 1307/8. Died before 12 Aug. 1308. RALPH, 1st EARL of STAFFORD, K.G., (2). Born 24 Sept. 1301. M 1st c. 1326/7 Katherine, d. of Sir John Hastang, Kt., of Leamington Warw. & Chebsey, Staffs., & his wife Eve (See HASTANG). M 2nd before 6 July 1336 Margaret (Born c. 1325 & Died 16 Sept. 1348), d. of Hugh de Audley, 1st Earl of Gloucester, & his wife Margaret, d. of Gilbert de Clare, 3rd Earl of Gloucester (See AUDLEY). On 6 Dec. 1323 he had done homage & was to have his father's lands. On 6 April 1327 he was summoned to serve against the Scots & in 1332 sailed with Edward de Baliol to invade Scotland. Summoned to Parliament, from 29 Nov. 1336 to 25 Nov. 1350. On 29 Nov. 1339 he returned from France with the King & on 23 June 1340 was present at the Battle of Sluys. By 10 Feb. 1340/1 he was Steward of the Royal Household. Appointed Seneschal of Aquitaine or Gascony, 23 Feb. 1344/5. During 1346 he successfully defended Alguillon against Prince John of France, & in Aug. he fought in the King's Division at the Battle of Crecy. He was one of the founder Knights of the Garter, 23 April 1348. Created Earl of Stafford, 5 March 1350/1. In Oct 1355 he was one of the leaders of the King's new expedition to France.
