Sir Nicholas Poyntz was the son of Robert Poyntz and most likely his first wife, Anne. He was lord of Iron Acton, Tockington, Swell, Nympsfield, Winston and Elkstone, Gloucester as well as being the escheator for Gloucester in 1424 and 1434. He married Elizabeth Mill, daughter of Thomas Mill (Mulle), Esq., lord of Mill, Tiverton, Devonshire and Juliana le Rous, daughter and heir of Sir Thomas le Rous. Elizabeth was likely the mother of Humphrey, Sir Nicholas's son. Sir Nicholas married for a second time to Elizabeth Hussey, alive on 7 Dec 1470 where her dower rights were assigned to her. She was the daughter of Sir Henry Hussey of Harting, Sussex.
