Sir John Poyntz son of Sir Nicholas Poyntz by his second wife, Helen, and he was lord of Iron Acton, Winston and Elkstone, co. Gloucester, which he received in 1343, by agreement with his first cousin, Sir John de Acton. He was Sheriff of Gloucester and died 24 Feb 1376. He married by 1343, Elizabeth de Clanvowe, daughter and coheir of Sir Philip Clanvowed by his wife Philippa Talbot. They were the parents of Sir John Poyntz.
