Pedro Durán y Chávez married Juana Montoya on 27 Jan 1703. He and his wife are one of the First Families of Albuquerque who settled Albuquerque 1706. In 1706-1713, he was a squadron leader of the militia and conducted ex-governor Felix Martínez back to México City. Despite the fact that he took part in the Moqui campaign in 1716, he resigned from the militia that year. He died on 7 Dec 1735.

Pedro had ten children by Juana Montoya, named in his will. They were Manuel, wife of Sebastian Marcelino, Moníca, wife of Antonio Baca; Josefa, married to Francisco Sánches; Efigenia, wife of Jacinto Sánchez, Francisco Xavier; Quinterina; Juana; and three minors, from his second marriage, who had been placed with their uncle, Francisco Durán y Chávez. They were Diego Antonio, twelve; María Luisa, ten; and Eusebio, eight.

Pedro's second wife was Gertrudis Sánchez, by whom he had five children. This marriage took place on 12 Jan 1728.
