• Background Information. 141 Reynold (de Grey), Lord Grey of Ruthin, 2nd but 1st surviving son and heir, born about 1319. On 20 Mar. 1352/3 the King took his fealty, and he had livery of the manors of Harrold, Great Brickhill, Flitton, Beds, and Canons Ashby, Northants. On 1 Oct. following the King took his homage, and he had livery of the castle of Ruthin and the cantred of Dyffryn Clwyd, together with, by the King's gift, the issues of all his father's lands since they had been taken into the King's hand. He accompanied the King in his expeditions to France in Oct. 1355 and Oct. 1359, being in the King's retinue. He was in France in Oct. 1369. He was sum. to a Council, 20 June (1358) 32 Edw. III, for Military Service, 13 June (1385) 8 Ric. II, and to Parl. from 15 Mar. (1353/4) 28 Edw. III to 20 Mar. (1387/8) 11 Ric. II, by writs directed Reginaldo de Grey de Riffyn or Reginaldo Grey de Ruthyn .
Reynold de Grey married, before 29 Nov. 1360, Alianore, daughter of Sir Roger le Straunge, of Knockin, Salop. Reynold de Grey died 28 July or 4 Aug. 1388. His widow's dower was ordered to be assigned, 20 Jan. 1388/9. Alianore died 20 Apr. 1396.
