• Background Information. 141 Gilbert de Lacy's daughter Margaret married John de Verdun. Margaret had a sister and coheir, Maud, who married first, Piers de Genevre, sometime before 19 Feb 1243/4. Piers de Genevre died in 1249 sometime before 29 June, and Maud married for a second time, before 11 Apr 1304, to Geoffrey de Geneville. Gilbert de Lacy, also had a son and heir, Walter, who was living 15 May 1238, when his grandfather acknowledged him as his heir, but he died without legitimate issue before 1241. ~Cokayne's Complete Peerage, 2nd Edition, (Verdun), Vol. XIIB, p. 248, footnote (e)
Gilbert married Isabel le Bigod, daughter of Hugh le Bigod 3rd Earl of Norfolk and Maud Marshall, about 1225 in Trim, Meath, Ireland. (Isabel le Bigod was born in Thetford, Norfolk, England, died after 1230 and was buried in Grey Friars, Worcestershire, England.)
