General Notes:
~Lordship and Community: The Lestrange Family and the Village of Hunstanton, Norfolk, in the First Half of the Sixteenth Century, Cord Oestmann, Boydell Press, 1994, Heiress to the manor of Hunstanton, Mitilda le Brun, was the daughter of Ralph Fitz Herluin, alias, Ralph de Hunstanton, mesne lord at Hunstanton at the time of the Domesday Suervey. [P.Brown, Domesday Book, 33, Norfolk, 9.9, 118] After the death of Ralph de Hunstanton, the manor came into the hands of the Le Strange family. They apparently either didn't live long in the village or not at all because they were granted property in Knockin, Shropshire in 1189, and this became the seat of their main residence.
