• Background Information. 252 Antonio Gallegos, husband of Rosa Montoya, was the son of the first Antonio and Catalina Baca. He was twenty-two in 1699 and living in Bernalillo. His sister Elena married Santiago Grolé in 1699.
Antonio died as a Sargento at Bernalillo in 1715, leaving his widow, Rosa Montoya and eight children: María (27 Feb 1701), José (14 Oct 1702), Juan Antonio (97 Jul 1704), Margarita (10 Feb 1706), Juana, Gertrudis, Josefa (11 May 1711) and one "en el vientre." Most of these children were born in Bernilillo.
The elder María married Juan Antonio Baca in 1716. Juan Antonio married Juana Varela in 1722. José Gallégos married María Silva prior to 1730, and died before 1732, seems to have been on of these children.
