• Background Information. 141 Robert de Meinill, the Third, son and heir of Stephen de Meinill, the Second, owed the Kin 100s in 1201/2, and was pardoned a debt of 20 marks. In 1202, Walter Hamby recognised his right to ten bovates of land in Hoton. In 1203, the Prior of Kirkham established his right to present to the church of Caldoverton, which Robert was claiming against him. His interest in this placed came from his family connection with the Ros family.
Robert de Meinill married Emma, daughter of Richard Malebisse. Robert died before 20 Jan 1206/7, most likely while overseas. Emma married as her second husband, Robert de Stuteville of Ayton. On 15 Dec 1207, the King granted Robert de Turnham the custody of the heirs of Robert de Meinill and of the land which he had held of the archbishopric of Cantebury.
