• Background Information. 141 Thomas de Sutton married Agnes, daughter of Sir John de Hotham, of Scarborough, co. York. The date of his death is unknown. Agnes survived him and died on or before 18 March 1394/5. On his death, according to modern doctrine, the Barony supposed to have been created by the writ of 27 January 1331/2 fell into aheyance between his 3 daughters and coheirs because his son, John, died without issue before April 1381. His daughters were: (1) Constance, second wife of Piers de Mauley, and married second, Sir John Godard; (2) Margery, wife of Piers de Mauley, and mother of Piers, 5 lord Mauley, and married as her second husband , William de Aldeburgh; and (3) Agnes, wife of Sir Ralph de Bulmer, and Sir Edmund de Hastings as her second husband.
