• Background Information. 814 Peter de Mauley was summoned to parliament from 29 Edward III to 6 Richard II. as Peter de Mauley le sisme.
This Peter married twice, his second wife was Constance, one of the daughters and coheirs of Thomas de Sutton, of Holdernesse, who was his widow. His first wife, and mother of his son Peter, who died in his lifetime, Elizabeth, was the daughter of Nicholas lord Meinell as well as the widow of John Lord Darcy.

• Background Information. 867 Peter de Mauley, the sixth, was twenty-four at the time of his father's death. He was at the battle of Poictiers, 30 Edward III. In 3 Edward III, he married his first wife, Elizabeth, widow of John, Lord Darcy and daughter and heiress of Nicholas de Meynel. He did not have a licencse from the King, and was fined one hundred pound. Elizabeth was much younger than her husband, in fact she was old enough to be Piers' mother.

• Background Information. 141 Piers de Mauley, the sixth, Lord Mauley, was at least twenty-four or more at the death of his father. The excheator in Yorkshire was ordered, 23 Mar 1354/5, to deliver le sysme, Piers having done homage, a 4th part of the manor of Kilnwick by Watton, Yorkshire, which his father he in chief on the day of his death. Piers was summoned to Parliament, 20 Sep 1357, by writ directed to Petro de malo Lacu le sisme. His name is found in records for 1366 and later years as commissioner of array; June 1367, when the custody of the Berwick was committed to him; and in Sep. of that year he was appointed a conservator of the truce in the Scottish Marches. His name appears again for May 1368, when he was made one of the wardens of the East March; 9 Oct 1871, he had liscense to settle lands in Kilnwick, on himself and Constance his wife; 1375, he was indicted for sheltering felons, but was not to be arrested; and in 1375 & later years, he was on the commission of peace.
His mother died in 1382, and he came into possession of Mulgrave. His first wife, who me married sometimes before 18 Nov 1356, was Elizabeth, widow of John, Lord Darcy and daughter of Nicholas, Lord Meinille and his wife Alice, daughter of William de Ros, Lord of Ros & Helmsley. Elizabeth was born 15 Oct 1331, and died 9 July 1368. His second wife was Constance, the elder sister of his son's wife, daughter and coheir of Sir thomas de Sutton, of Bransholme Castle and Sutton in Holderness, and his wife Agnes. Piers de Mauley died 19 or 29 Mar 1382/3. His will directed that he be buried in the church at the Friars Minor at Doncaster. His will was dated 8 Mar 1381/2, at the manor of Berg by Watton, Yorkshire. On 28 Apr 1383, the escheator was ordered to take the fealty of Constance, widow of Piers de Mauley, the Sixth, Knight, and to assign her dower. She married a second time, before 1384, yet without licence, to Sir John Godard. Constance died 9 Jun 1401.
