Sir Richard, was kinighted and died on 3 Edward VI. He married Anne, daughter of Sir Thomas Strickland, of Cumberland, Knight. They had five sons and two daughters:

John, who had seven sons, Abel, Abdie, Richard, Zachariah, John, James and Thomas
Raphe, who had three children, Richard, Edmund and Ellen
Thomas, who had five duaghters, Dorothy, Katharine, Anne, Bridget and Mary.
Sir Richard married a second time to Lady Ann Bellingham. His eldest son Richard, Esq. succeeded him, being 38 years old at the death of his father, and survived him only one year. His Obit was 4 Edward VI.

• Background Information.
Richard was thirty-eight years of age at the time of his father's death, but did not long enjoy possession of Middleton because he died on 4 August 1550. His son, another Richard, who was fourteen years of age at the time of his death, had also but a brief tenure, as he died on 17 July 1563, holding the manor of Middleton by the ancient service of a knight's fee and 23s. 4d. rent, and also the manor of Radcliffe, a recent acquisition. Richard his son and heir was only five years old.

Richard married Anne Strickland, daughter of Sir Thomas Strickland Knight and Agnes Parr, about 1525 in England.⁵³⁵ (Anne Strickland was born about 1478 in Sizergh, Cumberlandshire, England.)
