Henry Wolcott was born in 1579, baptized 6 Dec 1679 in the parish church of Lydiard St. Lawrence in England, and died 30 May 1655 in Windosor, Connecticut. He was the son of John Wolcott II, born 17 Apr 1545; died 10 Dec 1623; and married, 9 Feb 1578/79 to Agnes Crosse, born 3 Jan 1552; died 2 Nov 1623. John II was a miller as was his father, John Sr. born 10 Sep 1516, died 7 Dec 1571; married Agnes Butler, born circa 1523; died 6 Nov 1606.

From the Memorial of Henry Wolcot, page 2:
"There are two monuments in the church-yard (church of Tolland), side by side. The most ancient contains no inscription: it is completely obliterated, in consequence of the stone being so perishable a nutre. There is no doubt, however, that it belongs to the Wolcotts, as it stands so near to the onw with the following inscription:-
The body of John Wolcot,
21 Mar. 1618

Johne Woolcot
mother of the saide John Wolcot
who deceased
the 5th of Aprill 1637
"There are nor other grave-stones, either at Lidiard St. Lawrence ot at Tolland, ancient of modern, bearing the name of Wolcott."
