• Background Information. 712 Robert Fitz Robert Banastre married Alice, the daughter of Gilbert Woocock, and was living in 1289, but he died soon after leaving his widow surviving. They had issue of a son and a daughter; James, who married Elena, the daughter of Sir William le Boteler, Baron of Warrington, by whom he had issue, though whom the barony of Newton was transmitted to to her descendant, and Clementia, to whom, on her marriage to William de Lea, her father made a grant of Mollington Banastre, in Cheshire.
