• Background Information: From Beyond Origins. When Clemente Montoya, son of Felipe Montoya and María de Paredes, made his will on 3 September 1753 at Santa Cruz, he indicated he had been married twice and had seventeen children. By his first wife, Josefa Luján, he had: Francisca Montoya, Antonia Montoya, Manuel Montoya, Teodora Montoya, Luisa Montoya, Salvador Montoya, Manuela Montoya, Bárbara Montoya and María Montoya. The last five children named were identified as deceased.
By his second wife, María Baca, Clemente had these children: Lorenzo Montoya, Mariana Montoya, José Montoya, Santiago Montoya, Juan Domingo Montoya, María Luisa Montoya, Pedro Antonio Montoya, and Antonia Montoya. The last two children were identified as deceased.
Clemente Montoya died 10 Sep 1753 and was buried at the Church of Santa Cruz. His burial record gives his age as seventy, more or less.
