• Background Information. 713 Beatrix, daughter of Sir David le Clerc and Constance, daughter of Owain Kevelioc, prince of Powys, had on partition, 44 Hen III, a fourth of the barony of Malpas. She married William, son of Robert Patric, lord of a moiety of Malpas. Beatrix married, as her second husband, Roderic ap Gryffin ap Llewellyn, who was living 17 Edw I.

• Background Information. 1021 Richard de Sutton of Worksop and Aston le Walls, son and heir of Robert, brought considerable estates at Malaps, Shocklach, and elsewhere in Cheshire, to his descendants by his marriage with Isabella daughter and sole heiress of William Patric, lord of a moiety of Malpas, by Beatrice his wife, daughter and coheiress of David Malpas (Natural don of William de Malpas). Beatrice was remarried to Roderick ap Griffin, but died s.p. by him. On the death of Isabella's mother, Beatrice, in 1290, Isabella was found by inquisition, to be Beatrices next heir, then aged 30.
