• Background Information. 716 Sir William the eldest succeeded his father in 1363. He distinguished himself at the battle of Navaret, in Spain under Edward the Black Prince, where he was made a Bannoret in 1367, and continued to serve under that General in all his Spanish and French wars. He died at Cantebury in 1372. He married first, Johannah, daughter of Jordan Ellall, Forrester of Werdale, by Alice, his wife, one of the daughters and co-heirs to Thomas de Twenge; secondly, Margret, daughter and heir to Sir Alan Hetton, of Buthel, widow of Sir Robert de Holland of Enkerston, brother to Sir Thomas Holland, Knight of the Garter; by the former he had seven sons, of whom Sir Thomas the second was slain at Redcot-Bridge, between Berkshire and Oxfordshire in 1388; and Sir William the eldest son of his father. ~History, Genealogical and Biographical, of the Molyneux Families, pgs. 9-10

• Background Information. 727 Sir William de Molineux, the eldest son and hier, had two wives. The first was Joan, daughter and heir of Jordan Ellall, Forester of Wyresdale, by Alice his wife, one of the daughters and coheirs of Thomas de Twenge. His second wife as the Lady Margaret, widow of Sir Robert Holland, of Enkeston, Knight and brother to Sir Thomas Holland, Knight of the Garter, and the daughter and heir of Sir Alan Heyton, of Bushell, Knight. By his former wife he had several sons: • Sir William • Sir Thomas of Kuerdale • Sir John of Crosby, who had three daughters and heirs.
