Juan Esteban García de Noriega was a prominent individual of the Rio Arriba district. On June 23, 1721, he married Luisa GómezLujan, of Gomómez del Castillo, with ex-Governor Valverde as his sponsor. He was thirty-five years old in 1731 and residing in Santa Cruz la Cañada. This connection with Valverde points to his being a close relative of Luis García and Josefa Xavier.
