Juan de Tapia is first mentioned in 1607 as the husband of the daughter of Pedro Robledo and Catalin López. Juan Fernádez de Tapia was the name given once when acting as a church notry in 1617. In 1635 he was Alférez, and shortly after a captain and encomendero.
