Juan de Jesús Vigil, 23, española, single, legitimate son of José Antonio Vigil and María Rosa Martín, citizens of Abiquiú. María Paula Valdez, 17, española, single, legitimate daughter of the late Manuel Valdez and Josefa García, citizens of San Juan jurisdiction. The couple was related in the third and fourth degrees of consanguinity on a traverse line. Juan de Jesús Vigil testified before Father Alcina that he was related to almost everyone in the area.

Witnesses: Juan Antonio Beytia, 67, citizen of the San Juan jurisdiction, Francisco Martín, 50, citizen of the San Juan jurisdiction.

On 23 Oct, in San Juan de los Caballerso, Father Ramón González received the proceedings from Father Alcina. He questioned María Paula who stated that her mother was a widow responsible for the family. Despite the hardships, she had kept the family honor. Her intended could support her properly.
Witnesses: Juan Ramón García de la Mora, 56, citizen of the San Juan area; andAntonio Lucero, 54, citizen of the San Juan area.

Father González prepared a summary of the proceedings and forwarded them to Durango. On 4 Jan 1807, Vicar General Millán Rodríguez, acting for Bishop Olivares y Benito, granted dispensation.

1. In Abiquiú, on 9 Dec 1784, Father Muñoz Jurado baptized Juan de Jesús. born on 5 Dec 1784, the legitimate son of José Antonio Vigil and María Rosa Martín. His godparents were Juan Valdez and María de las Nieves Martín.

2. In San Juan Pueblo, 19 Jan 1790, Father Santiago Fernández de Sierra baptized María Paula, born the previous day, the daughter of Manuel Valdez and María de las Nieves Martín.

3. Father Alcina states that José Antonio Vigil and María Rosa Martín had given their son, Juan de Jesús Vigil their permission to mary María Paula Valdez.
