• Background Information. 1509
Since the son of Juan Montaño, Nicolas García is listed as the deceased husand of Quiteria Romero, age 38, in the Census of 1750, he would have been born around 1712. Juana Gallegos, first wife of Juan Montaño, was baptized in 1710 and was only two years old when Nicholas was born. He can therefore not be the son of Juana Gallegos.

There is no records that show who Nicolás García Montaño's mother was, but since he went by the name Nicolás García, it is likely that he was the natural son of a woman with that name. There are records that prove that Nicolás was the son of Juan Montaño. One record is in the pre-nuptial investigation for Nicolás's son Juan Antonio Montaño.
