• Background Information. 141 Henry Grey, Lord Grey, son and heir, aged 30 or more at his father's death. On 27 July 1370, the King took his homage and fealty, and he had livery of his father's lands. He was summoned to Parliament, 1 Dec 1376 (50 Edw. III) by write directed to Henrico de Grey de Shirland , for Military Service, 13 June 1385 (8 Richard II) and to Parliam from 4 Aug. 1377 until 20 Nov 1394 by writs directed to Henrico de Grey de Wilton. On 20 Dec 1391, he had livery of lands in Bucks which his mother a held for life.
Henry Grey married, before 3 Feb 1379/80, Elizabeth daughter (it is said) of Sir Gilbert Talbot, of Eccleswall, co. Hereford. He died 22 Apr 1396. On 4 July 1396, his widow had livery of the manor or Purleigh, and two-thirds of a fourth part of the manor of Olney, which the King had assigned to her in dower; the manors which she and her husband had held jointly at his death were liberated to her, 7 and 10 July following. She died 10 Jan 1401/2.
