• Background Information. 141 John, Lord Darcy, son and heir, aged 22 and more, or 23 and more, at his father's deat. The King took his fealty, and he had livery of his inheritance, 12 Jun 1399, his homage being respited. He was summoned to Parliament from 19 Aub 1399 to 21 Sep 1411, by writes directed to Johanni Darcy. He was one of the Lords who sealed the exemplicications of the Acts settling the succession to the Crown, 7 Jun and 22 Dec 1406.
John Darcy married Margaret, daughter of Sir Henry Grey, of Wilton-on-the-Wye, Lord Grey by Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Gilbert Talbot, of Eccleswall, co. Hereford, Lord Talbot. John Darcy died 9 Dec 1411. His will was dated at his manor of Temple Hurst, 2 Aug 1411, and proved at Cawood, 18 Feb 1411/2. His widow's dower was order to be assigned, 11 Nove and 14 Nov 1412. She married, as his second wife, before 12 Jul 1421, Sir Thomas Swinford, of Kettlehorpe, co. Lilcon. Sir Thomas Swinford was born 24 Feb 1372/3, at Lincoln, and baptized there the next day. Hie died 2 Apr 1432. Margaret died 1 Jun 1454.
