Sviatopolk Mikhail Iziaslavic was the son of Iziaslav I Grand Prince of Kiev and his wife Gertrud of Poland. The Primary Chronicle names Sviatopolk son of Iziaslav, recording that his father established him as Prince of Polotsk in 1069 after the death of his brother Mstislav [Russian Primary Chronicle (1973), 1069, p. 150].
