• Background Information. 141 Sir John d'Eiville, of Egmanton, Adlingfleet, Kilburn, and Thornton, son and heir of Sir John D'Eiville by 1st wife , Maud. He was under age, 21 July 1295. He was summoned for Military Service from May (1297) 25 Edw. I to 22 May (1319) 12 Edw. II, by writs directed Johanni de Eyvill' (with, latterly, the addition of de Athelyng flet). He sold the manors of Kilburn and Castle Hood to the Earl of Lancaster for 200 marks, in Michaelmas term 1319, and the manor of Thornton to John d'Ellerker for £100, in Easter term 1322.
Sir John d'Eiville married, 1stly Agnes. He married, 2ndly, Margaret. He died (1325-6) 19 Edw. II. His widow married, before Michaelmas 1326, as 2nd wife, Sir Adam de Everingham, of Laxton, Notts, [Lord Everingham], who d. shortly before 8 May, 1341.
