Some of their children were: Richard Sherburne, son and heir, who died before his father, married Alice, daughter of Lawrence Hamerton of Wicklisworth, Yorkshire. The inscription Richard's tomb at Mitton once read, "Orate pro anima Ric. de Sherburne et pro anima Alicie Hamerton uxoris sue A.D. MCCCCXLI. Obiit prefatus Ric. et erat hic in Tumulatus in die Ascensionis D'ni nostri Jesu Christi. Cujus a'i'e' p'pitietur Deus. Amen." And to my doghter Elizabeth a girdill of grene and ii bedds and xxx yerdds of lyn cloth shappyn in shetes. . . . And to my sone John my singnet, and to my son Nicholas and James auther a gold ringe. And to my doghter Mabill a parr of coral bedds. And to my goddoghter Agnes of Calverley a gold ryng. And to my son Sir John Tempest, knyght, a broche of golde. . . .
