• Background Information: .3. 720 Sir Henry de Trafford was knighted some time before the year 1309, and died in about 1334. With concent of his wife, Dame Margaret, he entailed his lands upon Henry, his grandchild, his eldest son, John, having pre-ceceased him, and his younger son, Robert then being settled at Garret, in Manchester, where he founded the line of Trafford of Garret.

• Background Information. 1307 "Henry, the third, was Knight of the Shire for Lancashire in Parliament, August 20, 1312 (6 Edward II), and as a knight, he witnessed with his neighbours the Charter of Manchester on 14 May 1301."
"on 28 Aug 1316, while the King was at York, an order was sent to Henry de Trafford in the Chancery at York, on Saturday after the Decollation of St. John the Baptist, under a penalty of of forty pounds, to do what should then be enjoined upon him on the King's behalf.
"This third Henry entailed his lands on his grandson Henry, with the consent of Dame Margaret his wife, by whom he had six children: John who died before him in 1320, leaving a son, Henry, who was born in 1315. Robert, whose sons were of "Prestwich." Thomas Nicholas Georffrey Henry"
This "Henry died in 1334, having survived the trouble times during which Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, was defeated at Boroughbridge and executed at Pontefract 22 Mar 1322, and the dethronement of King Edward II, and having witnessed in 1327 the accession of Edward III."
