• Background Information. 775 Sir John Mascy (Massey) was the son of Hugh Massey of Tatton. He succeeded his older brother to his father's estates. [Ormerod, vol. i. p.441] He married Alice de Worsely sometime before 1372. He was the Sheriff of Cheshire in 1389. He sided with Richard II in 1399 and was imprisoned in Chester Caslte. Four years later, he joined in the Hotspur uprising and was killed at the battle of Shrewbury. ~A Histroy of the Country of Lancaster, Vol. IV, Worsley, pp. 376-392
• Background Information. 713 Sir John Mascy (Massy) of Tatton, knight, son and heir of Hugh, was sheriff of Cheshire 11 Richard II (1387) and again in 13 Richard II (1390). He and his eldest son, Thomas were taken prisoners by the king in I Henry IV for opposition to this king. He very likely died 22 Jul 1403 during the Battle of Shrewbury. His widow, Alice, died 6 Henry VI in the beginning of October, 1427.
Sir John married Alice, sister and heir to Sir Geoffrey Worsley of Worsley in Lancashire, about 46 Edward III (1372). The children of Sir John and Alice were:
