• Background Information. 784 William Bromley, second son of John, was of Badinton, and in 35 Edward III, was summoned to be at Westminster, within three weeks of Easter, to attend Lionel, Earl of Ulster, the King's son, into Ireland, who was appointed to repair thither with a great army, to oppose the incursions of his enemies in that kingdom; the king ordering al who had any estates in that realm, and resident of England to go into company with his said son Lionel, Earl of Ulster. He married Annabella, sister and heir of William Chettleton, son of Matthew, son of Sir William de Chettleton, son of Robert (called Shirrard), son of William de Chettleton. They had two sons, John and Richard.

Richard de Bromley of Badynton, Inquisition p.m. 10 Henry IV, married, Agnes, daughter and heir of William Praers of Badylegh and Alstanton, married second, Cecily, sold daughter and heir of Richard le Grosveror of Little Budworth, widow of Richard del Mere, who married as her third husband, John de Bradburn. John de Bromley, 2nd son, ancestor to the Bromleys, Lord of Montfort.
In Ian Bromley's Bromley: A Midlands Family History, p. 33, Willaim and Anabella's children are given as:
Anabella, inherited the lordship of Chettleton, in preference to John the eldest heir. From this line is decended Sir Ralph Egerton, of Wrenhill, Staffordshire. John, inherited the remained estates, including Badington. It is from this line that the Barons Montfort are descended. Richard Robert, from whom the line descends into the Hexstall line.
William married Annabella Chettleton, daughter of Matthew de Chettleton and Joane de Clifton. (Annabella Chettleton was born in 1324 in Baddington, Cheshire, England and died in Baddington, Cheshire, England.)
