Robert de Tregoz had a military summons to march against the Welsh in 42 Henry III. He joined the baronial banner in the same reigh and fell at the battle of Evesham.

Robert de Tregoz, son and heir of his father by the same name, was closely associated with Henry III, and for many years, 1226-1242, received £20 p.a. "to keep him in the royal service. He had a protection to go to Brittany, Apr. 1230, and was in Gascony, 1242-43. He was granted quittance of common summons in Hants, 1256 and 1262, Notts, 1257, Northamts, 1262, and Wilts and Somerset, 1267. He was ordered to aid the Earl of Hereford to protect the Marches, 1267, and was summoned for service in Wales, 1258, 1260, 1263, and 1264.

In Oct 1261, he was among the trusted tenants whom the King, faced with the opposition of Simon de Montfort, called to London. He confirmed the foundation of a great house of regular canons at Albury, in Send, Surrey, and was patron of the priory on the isle of Steepholm, in Britol Channel.

Robert married, sometime before 1 Aug 1245, Juliane, the daughter of William de Cantelo, by Milicent, widow of Amauri (de Montfort), Count of Evreux, and daughter of Hugh de Gornai (Gurnay). Robert died shortly before 24 Sep 1268, and Juliane was still alive on 6 Aug 1285.

From The Topographer and Genealogists, 1853, Vol. II, pp. 129-130:

"Sir Robert Tregoze, Knt. eldest son and heir, succeeded his father in his immense Wiltshire and Herefordshire possessions, and was Baron Tregoze of Lydiard Tregoze, in the former county, and Lord of Ewyas Harold in the latter, in right of his mother. He did homage and had livery of his mother"s estates in Herefordshire, 20 Hen. III (1236) paying 100l. for his relief. He was living 40 Henry III; and two years after was summoned to march algainst the Welsh ; but joining the rebellious Barons of this reign, the same year, was slain at the battle of Evesham, 4 Aug. 1265, 49th Hen. III; having had to wife Juliana, daughter of William Lord Cantilupe (by Milicent his wife, daughter of Hugh de Gournai, widow of Almeric Earl of Evreux); which Juliana brought the manor of Great Dodington, in Northamptonshire, into the Tregoze family, and bare her husband two children. Sir Robert Tregoze's Inq. post mort. was made 49th Hen. III. where a list of his estates may be seen."

The children of Juliana and Sir Robert were Sir John Tregoze,son and heir, Lucy Tregoze who married John Lord L'Estrange.


Robert married Juliane de Cantelou, daughter of William de Cantelou King's Steward and Millicent de Gournay 141.,1007 (Juliane de Cantelou was born about 1224 in Aston Cantlow, Warwickshire, England and died after 6 Aug 1285 in England 141.)
