He was one of the Barons who took part in the cornation of King Richard I, 3 Sep 1189, at Westminster. Sir Gerard married Emma, daughter of Thomas de Cukeney, who founded the Abbey of Welbeck, Nottinghampshire, during the reign of Henry II. The children of Sir Gerard and Emma were Henry de Glanville and Berta de Glanville who married Lord William de Stuteville. Sir Gèrard's second wife was Matilda, daughter and coheiress of Adam Fitz Swain who was previously married to Adam de Montebegon, Lord of Hornby and John de Maleherbe. Sir Gèrard and Matilda had no children.
