• Background Information. 1430 Elizabeth Saunders, daughter of Ann Blake, Granddaughter of John Blake and Great Granddaughter of Humphrey Blake, was baptized at Lydiard St. Lawrence, Somerset, England, 20 Dec 1584. She died at Windsor, Connecticut 5 Jul 1655. She married at Lydiard St. Lawrence 19 Jan 1660/7, Henry Wolcott, baptized there 6 Dec 1579, son of John & Agnes (Cross) Wolcott. He died at Windsor 30 May 1655.
The Wolcotts arrived in New England on the Mary & John in 1630, settling first at Dorchester, MA., where Henry was assessor in 1633 and selectman in 1634. The next year the family moved to Windsor where Henry was constable in 1636, tax collector in 1637/9, on the committee for a highway between Windsor and Hartford in 1645, deputy to the Connecticut General Court for Windsor in April 1639, and assistant 1644-1655. Henry's will was dated at Windsor 13 May 1655 and proved at mentioned her daughters in her will, made 5 July 1655 (the day she died) and proved 4 Oct 1655.

John Wolcott, bp. Lydiard St. Lawrence 1 Oct 1607, buried 13 May 1655; was living in England in 1631, and apparently never emigrated to the Americas, and he was alive in England in 1631. He died without issue before his father. Henry Wolcott, eldest son in father's will, born abt 1616, died 12 Jul 1680 in Windsor, Conn, m. in Windsor, Sarah Newberry, daughter of Thomas and Joane (Dabinott) Newberry. George Wolcott, died 12 Feb 1662, third son in his father's will. Christopher Wolcott, died unmarried, 7 Sep 1662, in Windsor Anna Wolcott, born 1620, died 1700, m. Matthew Griswold, son of George Griswold. Mary Wolcott, died 16 Sep 1689; m. Job Drake, 25 Jun 1646; Job Drake died the same day as his wife Simon Wolcott, born 1625, died 11 Sep 1687

• Background Information. 693 Henry Wolctott was the progenitor of the American family of Wolcott. He was born in Galdon Manor, Tolland, Somersetshire, England in 1578. He was baptized in the neighboring, larger parish church of Lydiard, St. Lawrence on 6 Dec 1578, which is recorded in the church of Lydiard. He was the son of John Wolcott of Tolland. He married Elizabeth Saunders, daughter of Thomas Saunders of Lydiard, St. Lawrence, whom he married 19 Jan 1606. She was born in 1583 and baptized on 20 Dec 1584. Henry died on 30 May 1655, at age seventy-seven, while Elizabeth Saunders died 7 Jul 1655, at age 73. They were both buried in Windsor, Connecticut.
Henry and his wife reached Nantasket, Massachusetts on 30 May 1630. They had arrived in Massachusetts aboard the Mary & John. Henry Wolcott enrolled on the first list of freemen of Boston, 10 Oct 1630, and lived in Boston for several years before moving to Windsor Connecticut in about 1635.
