• Background Information. 252 Juan Manuel Gabaldón was in New Mexico as early as 1731. He was the attorney in Santa Fé for Catalina Varela de Losada, while she lived in Chihuauha. On 26 Jul 1735, he married Juliana Archibeque. Their padrinos were Juliana's aunt María de Archibeque and her husband Francisco Casados.

Juan Manuel drew up his own will 14 Jul 1745 in which he stated that he was born in Puebla and was the son of Antonio Gabaldón and Micaela de Cordoba y Rendón. At that time he had been married for eleven years and had six children, two of whom died in infancy. He did not die after making his will, instead he and his wife went on to have five more children: Miguel Baltasar, baptized on 8 Jan 1749, Juan Antonio baptized on 3 Mar 1753, Manuela Rafaela baptized on 28 Mar 1775, José Joaquín baptized on 21 Oct 1758, and José Miguel baptized on 1 Oct 1759.
