• Background Information. 252 Nicolás Durán was sheriff of the Councio in 1642. He was mentioned in 1663 as being an "aide" to Governor Peñalosa, and having a wife and children in Santa Fé. He was not alive by 1680, but from the marriage of daughter, Catalina, we learn that his widow's name was Antonia Trujillo.
