Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 720 David, who added to the family possessions by his marriage with Cecilia, one of the daughters of Randle Thornton, lord of Thornton-in-the-Moors, for, as appears by a deed in the Egerton collection, Amicia, the widow of Randle and the sister and co-heir of Randulph de Kingsley, gave to him all her lands in Crowton, a third share of the manor, in frank marriage with Cecilia, her daughter. The deed is without date, from which circumstance it may be assumed that it was executed before the year 1290, when the statute of Quia emplores terrarum (18 Edward I) was passed. Amicia, the grantor, must have lived to a ripe old age; she was a widow in 1243, she was living in 1279, and there is some reason to believe that she survived until 1308.
