Juan Páez Hurtado married Teodora Garcia de la Riva, on June 20, 1704. Three known children of theirs were:
Antonia, who became the wife of José Terrus
Gertrudis, first wife of Nicolás Ortiz III
Juan Domingo.

Juan died in 1742 and was buried under the main altar of La Conquistadora on May 5; his second wife was buried in the same chapel, November 17, 1736. His name is carved on El Morro, with the date "July, 1736." It seems as though his son, Juan Domingo, mentioned only once in the will of his Terrus brother-in-law, went to live at Guadalupe del Paso, being very likely the founder of a prominent family there later known as "Páez." His father was referred to simply as "Don Juan Páez" in at least one official document.
