Nicholas Audley Lord Audely
Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information: 141 Nicholas, Lord Audley was the son and heir of James Audley and his first wife, Joan Mortimer. He was knighted before 1352, in the same year, he and his younger brother, Roger, were in arms against their father, when they sacked Heleigh Castle. He was in service of the king in the wars with France, 1359 & 1372, and was afterwards Chief Justice of South Wales, 1 Feb 1381/82.
Sir Nicholas was summoned to Parliament, 17 Dec 1387 to 12 Dec 1390. His marriage settlement, 1329-1331, was made while both he and his wife, Elizabeth Beaumont, were still under twelve years of age. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry Beaumont, Lord Beaumont and Alice, suo jure Countess of Bucham. Sir Nicholas died without a male heir, 22 Jul 1391. At this time, the Barony of Audley fell to his sisters and descendents. His Will was dated the year of his death. His widow died 27 Oct 1400 and the post mortem inquision took place 1400/01.
