This is the marriage record of the parents of New Mexico colonist Nicolás Ortiz, "Nicolás Ortiz de León and doña Antonia de Guevara (aka Ladrón de Guevara), both natives of Mexico City, dated January 4, 1638, Santa Vera Cruz, Mexico City." Nicolas Ortiz de León's "parents were identified as Manuel de los Reyes and Catalina de León. Doña Antonia was a natural daughter of doña María Ladrón de Guevera. The marriage took place in the house of Juan Pérez in the Barrio de la Alameda, Mexico City with Antonio Suárez, Juan de la Cruz, and Melchor de Ávila were witnesses. The presiding priest was Pedro del Castillo.
