Edward Jewett was born in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England about 1580. He married in there, 1 Oct 1679, to Mary Taylor, daughter of William Taylor. He lived in Bradford, where he was a cloth manufacturer; He also died there, His will was dated 2 Feb 1614, and proved by his widow on 12 Jul 1615. The will is on file with the archibishopic of York. It states that "I bequeth two full parts of my goods Cattles Chattles & Credits (in three parts to be divided) unto William Jewett, Maximilian Jewett, Joseph Jewett and Sara Jewet my children . . ." He give the third part of his property to his Mary, his wife, who he makes exectris of his will. He makes his father-in-law, William Taylor, brother-in-law, Samuel Taylor and Thurstun Ledgerd the supervisors of his will.

His children were all born in Bradford, England.
