Information about this person:
• Background Information. 716 In 1066, among the noble attendants of the Conqueror was William de Molins, a person of noble extraction, as appears from the roll of Battle Abbey in which list his name stands 18th, in order; and to the said William, Roger de Poictiers (by consent of the Conqueror) gave the manor of Sefton, Thorndon and Derndon, in the County of Lancaster of which Sefton became the cheif seat. To him succeeded Vivian, his heir, who bore the cross Moline for his arms.

• Background Information. 727 William des Molines appears on the roll of Battle Abbey listed as the eighteenth in orde. Chronicles written about the dutchy of Norman show that William was one of William the Conqueror's chief men at the time he invaded England.
Roger de Poytiers gave William des Molins a tract of land in Lancashire between the rivers of Ribble and Mercy, as a give from the Conqueror. He also was given the manors of Sephton, thorneton, Kerdon at the service of hald a Knight's fee. He made Sephton his chielf seat and was succeeded by him son and heir Vivian.

• Background Information. 1054 William des Moulins, or de Molines, attended William the Conqueror in his invasion of England, in the year 1066, and is the 18th in order, in the roll of Battle-abby. He was succeed by his son Vivian, father of Adam, father of Robert.
