John Comstock was born 1624 and died, 1680, in Lyme, Connecticut. In 1680, he married Abigail Chappell, who was born, 1 Sep 1644, and was the daughter of George and Christian Chappell. After John Comstock died, Abigail married her second husband, 18 Jan 1680, Moses Huntley who was born 1 Jul 1654, and was the son of John and Jane Huntley.

John Comstock's name if the first to be mentioned in the family records in America. Savage states that he came Weymouth, in 1639 and "sat down at Saybrook, east part." He was probably apprenticed to Henry Russell of Weymouth prior to 1639. Later he was of Lyme, Connecticut, and was a proprietor there in 1645.

John was a signer of the Articles of Agreement to the separation of the town of Lyme from Saybrook on 13 Feb 1666.

Court records show that his estate was settled 4 Jun 1681, and his widow was made administratrix and "desires Mr. Noyce, her father Chappell and Mr. Edwards Shipman assist here."

John Comstock is mentioned in the will of Henry Russell, dated 20 Aug 1643. In the last line of Henry Russell's will it says: "Futher I giue & assign vnto Jane my wife, the reminder of time be served by my seruant John Comstock."

John married Abigail Chappell, daughter of George Chappell and Christian.
