~The Normans, p. 22, Raoul de Ivry was the half brother of Richard I, duke of Normandy, and the uncle of Richard II. He helped his nephew from the beginning of Richard's II reign as the leader of Normandy. Raoul's two sons, Hugh de Bayeux and John d'Avranches became bishops. Raoul's daughter, Emma became the wife of Osbern, the steward, nephew of duchess Gunnor, and the devoted guardian of William the Conqueror. 167
