• Family Background. 599 Sir Gerard de Braybrooke married Isabel or Elizabeth Dakeny, daughter of Sir Roger Dakeny of Cliphill, Gedfordshire by Joan, daughter and heiress of Richard Cave. They had five sons, Gerard, John, Nicholas, Robert and Reginald, as well as one daughter, Alice who married John Carbonel and Sir John Kentwood.

• Closed Rolls, 28 Aug 1316, Yorkshire, England. 1384 To Master John Walewayn, escheator beyond Trent. Order to assign dower to Joan, late the wife of Robert (Roger) Dakeny, tenant in chief, in the presence of Richard de Cave, to whom the king committed the custody of two parts of the lands during the minority of the heir, upon her taking oath not to marry without the king's licence.
