Oberto II was the son of Oberto Obisso, Conte di Luni. "His parentage is confirmed by a charter dated 975 under which 'Adalbertus et Obertus germani Marchioni, filii bone memorie Oberti Marchionis et Comitis Palatio' granted rights to the bishop of Pisa." He was the father of Alberto Azzo Conti de Luni who married Adela, daughter of Oberto and they had a son, Alberto Azzo Marchese d'Este.
