Noted events in his life were:
• Background Information. 141 Baldwin Wake, son and heir, rendered account of 200 marks in Lincolnshire in 1176 as he had, without royal permission, given in marriage a lady who was in the King's gift. He was at Westminster, 3 Sept 1189, for the Coronation of Richard I, was with the King at St. Albans, 7 Sept following, was one of the hostages, for the payment of Richard's ransom, Feb 1193/4, and went to the King in Germany in 1195. Shortly before his death he, together with William Briwerre, tallaged the city of Gloucester.
Baldwin Wake married Agnes, daughter of William du Hommet, hereditary Constable of Normandy (who gave her in frank-marriage his moiety of Lower Winchendon, Bucks), by his wife Lucy. He died before Michaelmas 1198. Agnes married, 2ndly, Ranulph De Vernay and was living in Trinity 1224.
