• Background Information. 721 Emma was the daughter of Betram de Bulmer, and possibly Emma, daughter of Robert Fossard. This was Emma's second marriage, before being the wife of Geoffrey de Valoignes, who died in 1169. Emma was also the heir of her brother William and the granddaughter Ansketil de Bulmer, who was steward of Robert Fossard. Ansketil de Bulmer may have been married to the heiress of Piers de Humez of Brancepeth.
