Ormerod places William as a possible brother of Sir Randle de Praers and a son of Thomas de Praers. William married Sibyll, sister of Thomas de Crew, and had Alice, wife of Richard de Mynsull. According to George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, William is place one descent lower in Harl. MSS 2119.
